If so, you are not alone!

8.9 Million People Relocated since the beginning of the pandemic according to the National Association of Realtors and USPS.

That is pretty amazing if you think about it! During a time where people were at home more, 8.93 million of those folks moved to another location between March and October 2020. Most people moved at the beginning of the pandemic and during the summer months. This is an increase of 94,000 people from the previous year!

Next question is where are people moving? Are they leaving their hometown or home state?

In Massachusetts 73 people moved out of the state for every one person who moved in. Here is where they went to or came from!

Where MA residents moved to and where new residents here moved from

Interesting to see that a slightly higher percentage of people moved from Florida than moved there from Massachusetts. Otherwise, we don’t seem to move very far from home. I’d like to welcome our new neighbors from Florida, New York and California! Welcome to the Bay State!

So more regionally, where did people move from or to by Massachusetts County? Here is the info for our nearby counties:

Norfolk County, MA

Suffolk Coutny, MA

Plymouth County, MA

This data doesn’t show those who moved but stay local, but definitely interesting to see the patterns. NAR is forecasting similar migration patterns in 2021.

Are you planning a 2021 move? If so, where?
